Two of the most common cosmetic dentistry questions we hear at FORME Dental are: Should I get veneers or bonding? Both can create a dramatically improved smile — but they work differently, cost differently, and suit different situations.

What Is Dental Bonding?

Dental bonding uses a tooth-colored composite resin applied directly to your tooth, shaped by hand, and hardened with a curing light. It's done in a single appointment and is one of the most cost-effective cosmetic procedures available. Bonding is excellent for small chips or cracks, minor gaps, discoloration, and slightly misshapen teeth.

Composite resin typically lasts 5 to 7 years before a touch-up is needed.

What Are Dental Veneers?

Veneers are ultra-thin porcelain shells custom-crafted to fit over the front surface of your teeth. They closely mimic the light-reflecting properties of natural enamel. Veneers are ideal for significant discoloration, multiple teeth that need reshaping, larger gaps, worn enamel, or patients who want a comprehensive smile transformation.

With proper care, porcelain veneers can last 15 to 20 years.

Side by Side

Bonding: 1 visit, reversible, cost-effective, 5–7 year lifespan, best for minor issues.

Veneers: 2–3 visits, permanent, premium investment, 15–20 year lifespan, best for full smile transformation.

At FORME Dental, we listen to your goals first, then suggest the approach that makes the most sense for your specific teeth and lifestyle. There's no one-size-fits-all answer — and we'd never push you toward a more expensive option if a simpler one serves you just as well.
